Full Frame vs Crop Sensor (APS-C)

One of the first questions people ask when they’re getting into photography is what camera they should buy. That question eventually leads to the struggle between full frame and crop sensor. Conventional wisdom suggests that buying the more expensive camera would lead to better pictures; and since full frame cameras are, with VERY few exceptions, more expensive than crop sensor, that would suggest that full frame is going to yield the best image quality. But that’s not always the case. Take a look at the two photos below. One was taken on a full frame camera (Sony A7R IV) and one was taken on a crop sensor (Sony a6400). There’s a nearly $3000 difference in price between the bodies alone, and that doesn’t factor in the price of the lenses used. To your eye, is there a $3000 difference in the quality of the photos? Consider that when choosing which camera to buy.
